Features
Real videos are the best way to hear how a language is actually spoken. DracoLanguage makes them understandable, line by line.
The full subtitles follow the video in a panel next to it. The current line is highlighted, and a click on any line jumps right there.
An AI tutor explains the complete sentence — even when it is split across several subtitle lines — with translation, vocabulary, grammar, and usage notes.
Select exactly the part you are unsure about, from a single word to several lines, and get it explained in context.
A short dictionary entry with the base form, reading, and the patterns a word is used in, such as put up with sth or mit etwas klarkommen.
Beginner, intermediate, or advanced: explanations go into as much detail as you need, in the language you understand best.
For Chinese, pinyin appears above the panel and the player subtitles. Characters with several readings are read from context.
Previous, repeat, and next line with A, S, and D. Pause automatically after each line and slow down to 0.75×.
Save words, sentences, and grammar points. Saved words are underlined in every transcript, and you can export them as CSV for Anki.
AI tutor
Machine translation tells you what a sentence means. DracoLanguage tells you why: which words carry the meaning, which patterns they follow, and which grammar holds the sentence together.
How it works
Add DracoLanguage to Chrome. The transcript works right away, no account needed.
Play a YouTube video with subtitles or a show on Netflix (beta). DracoLanguage detects its language and shows the transcript next to it.
Click words, replay lines, and ask the AI tutor about anything you do not understand yet.
Languages
DracoLanguage detects the language of each video automatically. Explanations can be written in any of these languages and also in Korean.
The extension itself is available in English, Chinese, Japanese, German, and Spanish.
